Wireless Xbox Controller Driver For Windows7 64

I have an xbox 360 and windows 7. Here is my question. Do I need to purchase a wireless gaming receiver in order to use my wireless 360 controller with my laptop or do I only need these drivers? Thanks for your help:). Download this: Wireless Xbox 360 Controller in Windows 7 with PC Gaming Receiver 64 bit 32 bit. This is what worked for me in Windows 7 when the drivers for my Xbox 360 controller kept failing to install. For the sake of other people finding this thread via search engines, I'll list all steps: 1. Download Xbox 360 Accessories here 2. Install that, then plug in your controller and wait for it to epically fail. Open Device Manager.

Following these instructions from Microsoft my aftermarket Xbox 360 controller is not working on Windows 7. Any suggestions?
